Graphic Design: Archigram Poster

Archigram Poster #2 (2011)
Digital scan and print

The architectural group Archigram was the inspiration for this piece. To me, the poster represents Archigram. It is constructed from scans of various Archigram illustrations, mixing and matching various components and items to form new objects. i.e. taking a building, turning it on its side, transforming it and morphing it to form something else.
The graphic shown is a metaphor for Archigram: it is a revolution of ideas, marching upon the land with airships and capsules of ideas.
The idea of combining old ideas/illustrations to forming new ones is also significant in it represents most creative processes. Ideas form from inspiration, and even though ideas may seem new, they are ultimately - consciously or not, inspired or taken from something old.
There is also something sinister about their grand designs, may it be through the fright of change, or perhaps the overall planned nature of the ideas?
